The Brethren's Kitchen was the dining room
for the soldiers and continued to be a
communal eating place through the centuries.
Today the Lord Leycester Hospital is now
not only a beautifully conserved timber- framed
historic attraction but also continues as a
living museum and as a home for a small
number of retired servicemen as originally
intended by Robert Dudley.
In 1966 Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother
opened the renovated historic attraction which
now includes self-contained accommodation for
the "Brethren" each with their own kitchen.
From that date the "Brethren's Kitchen"
Tearoom was open to the public and helps
support the running costs of this wonderful
historic community.
